Dental Implants
A dental implant replaces the root of a missing tooth. Dr Tom Jaunay places the implant and, once it has healed, your dentist fits the crown. Many of the decisions that shape the result are made early, so it is best to see us before a tooth is removed if you are considering an implant.
What we offer
- Single tooth implants, including implants placed on the same day the tooth is removed where the bone and gum allow
- Multiple implants and implant-supported bridges
- Bone grafting, socket preservation and sinus lifts where there is not enough bone
- 3D-planned guided implant surgery using a CBCT scan and a printed surgical guide
Working with your dentist
- Referral: your dentist sends your X-rays or scan and the plan for your new tooth.
- Planning: a CBCT scan and a digital plan built around the final crown, including any graft needed.
- Surgery: the implant is placed, usually under local anaesthetic in our rooms, with a check X-ray afterwards.
- Back to your dentist: once the implant has healed, your dentist receives an Implant Summary letter with the details needed to make your crown.
Looking after your implant
Implants last longest when the gums are kept healthy. Clean around your implant as carefully as your natural teeth, see your dentist at least once a year, and tell us or your dentist promptly about bleeding, swelling or looseness.
Fees
| Treatment | Typical fee |
|---|---|
| Single implant placement, including the implant | From $3,800 |
| Bone graft or sinus lift, if needed | Varies with the type of graft required; may attract a Medicare rebate |
| Anaesthetist (general anaesthetic only) | $500–$900 |
| Hospital (general anaesthetic only) | $1,350–$2,650 |
The crown is made and charged separately by your dentist. The surgeon’s fee for implant cases is due three weeks before surgery so we can order the correct implant.
Fees are before health fund rebates. You will receive a written, itemised estimate at your consultation. Where total estimated costs exceed $2,000, surgeon’s and anaesthetist’s fees can be paid through Zip Money, interest free over 6 months (Zip approval, fees and terms apply). See About our Fees (PDF) and Paying with Zip Money (PDF). There is no charge for aftercare.
Where we treat you
Consultations are at our rooms in Macquarie Street (Sydney City), Hurstville and Miranda, 8:30am to 4:30pm, Monday to Friday. Surgery under general anaesthetic is performed at Kareena Private Hospital, Waratah Private Hospital or Sydney Day Surgery Prince Alfred. See our locations.
